March Class Creations

For our second class, I thought I would see how our new crafters would take to a card that looks challenging but if well planned and prepared can be a very effective and elaborate card to make which isn't that tricky! So we made this Tri-Shutter card using the Floral District DSP with the Sale-a-bration stamp set Bloomin Marvelous. It also introduced our new ladies to the Stampin' Trimmer and its benefits of being a scoring tool as well.
I had made a template for everyone to aid them in their cutting and scoring. I had also pre-cut all the card stock and DSP required for the panels to save time. But the 2 3/8" Scallop Circles and 1 3/4" Circles were punched out at the class.
The colours used were Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Baja Breeze and Lucky Limeade.  The flowers, bird and leaves on the round panels were hand cut and the butterflies punched out using the Bitty Butterfly punch from the Spring/Summer catalogue. I love this little punch and it also goes with the Papillion Potpourri stamp set too!  The centre panel has a piece of Rich Razzleberry 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around it to tie all the colours together.
Our ladies were very pleased with their finished cards and proud of themselves too for creating it!

I had also made this card using a retired DSP and stamp sets with Soft Suede, Very Vanilla and Basic Black for a commission for a male 90th birthday and for my fathers recent 70th birthday.  The greeting and numbers were stamped using Memorable Moments Stamp set which is a great set for adding numbers to cards. (The wording 'Dad' was created on the computer).

The second project that the ladies made at March's class was the following box, which held two mini cards and envelopes. The focus of this project was Designer Series Paper (DSP) - and that you could create all of the below using just one piece of DSP! Alli choose the gorgeous Twitterpated DSP and used the sale-a-bration ribbon in island indigo to co-ordinate. The main box was created using from a single A4 sheet of Crumb Cake card. The colours used for the cards were crumb cake backgrounds and baja breeze for the Postage Stamp punch outs. The Bitty Butterfly stamp was used to create two butterflies from Island Indigo cardstock and finished off with a couple of pearls. The Best of Everything Stamp set was used too finish off the card and box. The class were also introduced to the Simply Scored Scoring Tool which enabled the ladies to experience this truly marvellous piece of equipment which enabled them to easily score the card to create the envelopes and box! Making envelopes is such a breeze with this device - and they look great!

If you would like to come along to our classes and learn to create a card such as this then please contact us (Hazel on 01452 740258 and Alli on 07791 807748). Our classes run on the second Monday of the month in Rodborough, Stroud.

Truly Madly Stampin Launch Projects

To introduce our potential crafters to Stampin Up! I thought I would use the Easy Events set at our launch as it is such a versatile set for all occasions. What I like about this set is that you can easily ink the stamps with the Stampin' Write Markers and then stamp them as well as exchanging the greetings on the stamps and then colour them in again using the marker pens. I also incorporated the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stacks making them look like strips of ribbon. The punches used were 2 3/8" Scallop Circle and 2 1/2" Circle which suited the Easy Events stamps perfectly.  Some Pearl Basic Jewels were added to some of the designs for that extra bit of embellishment!
The card stock used is Very Vanilla and Early Espresso - again two very versatile colours for all occasions and base card colour.

As our launch was a few days before Valentines Day, we thought we would give our guests the option of creating a simple but effective Valentines card for their special person and to have a go with the Big Shot. This design was taken from an idea I had seen on the internet. For this deisgn we used the Hearts a Flutter Framelits from the Spring/Summer catalogue which has a co-ordinating stamp set. We pierced a heart on the Whisper White card stock using the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and layered two strips of  More Amore Specialty DSP on top.  We die-cut the heart in Cherry Cobbler and added this on top, using a pearl to finish it off. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set. The background card is also Cherry Cobbler card stock with Whisper White being used for the main card.

Mothers Day Butterfly

I just thought I would share with you the card I made my mum for Mothers Day. I have to admit I did copy this from an idea on the internet - it is a useful tool to use when you need that extra bit of inspiration! I liked the cleanliness of this design and the use of the Elegant Butterfly punch which is just as elegant as its name! The butterfly is punched out from Floral District DSP and I used the same DSP for the vertical strips but any co-ordinating DSP can be used in this project. I used the Big Shot Perfect Polka Dots folder on Whisper White card stock - such a useful embossing folder - and edged it with a strip of Whisper White Scallop Trim Border. The background paper is also from the Floral District DSP with the greeting, taken from Teeny Tiny Sentiments (and punched out with the Word Window and Modern Label punches), made using Rich Razzleberry ink and card stock to complement it. The butterfly sits on some 5/8" Organza Ribbon (another of my favourites). Finally I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the butterfly and topped it with a Vintage Faceted Designer Button to give it all a bit of  glitz!
