August Class - Mothers And Daughters Too!

For our August class I chose a theme of using neutral colours and the Neutrals Colour Collection DSP papers.
The first card was made using basic black and whisper white card stock with sheets taken from the Neutrals Colour Collection DSP papers with the black and white theme.  This style of card is a Gatefold design.  Several punches and framelits we used in this design inculding Circles Collection Framelits, 1" and 2 1/2" circle punches, 1 3/4" Scallop circle punch, Bitty Butterfly punch and Elegant Butterfly punch. Some Basic Jewels were used as the bodies of the butterflies and the greeting taken from the Work of Art stamp set using Momento Ink.

Our second card is a twisted easel design made using Very Vanilla card stock, Soft Suede card stock and ink, Chocolate Chip colour sheets from the Neutrals Colour Collection DSP papers and card stock, and Crumb Cake colour sheets from the Neutrals Colour Collection DSP papers and card stock.  The two stamp sets used were Crazy For You and Petite Pairs. The flower was made by stamping of the flower stamp from the Crazy For You stamp set 3 times using Soft Suede ink and then the layers cut out and finshed with a Crumb Cake Candy dot and base. To keep the card upright for display, a stack of a trio of flowers puched using the flower from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and secured using a mini sliver brad.
Our 3D project was to make a birthday book useful for writing down all those family and friends birthday dates we might normally forget in a clever little folding book.  I used a computer to print out the month pages and the greeting on the front.  The main colours used were Chocolate Chip ink and cardstock and Crumb Cake  ink and card stock.  A belly band was used to keep the book closed.  The flowers were stamped using the Petit Petals stamps.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed making a birthday card and decorating a notebook (using retired products).

Junes Class

Right, I am a bit better organised for my blog this month as had it all photographed and written ahead of time.  Plus as we had treated ourselves to a weekend break at Centre Parcs the weekend of my class I had to make sure everything was planned before we went away!
So here are the projects from June:-
This first card showcases the new 2015-2017 In Colors. Starting from the top butterfly (made with the Bitty Butterfly punch and  1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches) they are Delightful Dijon, Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron (the greeting was made using Early Espresso ink and Petit Pairs stamp set and cardstock to complement these new colours). As you can see we didn't waste the butterflies punched out of the Whisper White cardstock and made gift tags with them using the Note Tag punch.

This is the second card we made using the Sheltering Tree stamp set which has carried over from the Spring/Summer catalogue.  I had seen another demostrator (Mandi Mace) making a card using the Hardwood stamp as a frame to the card and couldn't resist using the same idea.  The main colours in this card are Rose Red, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip.
This final card uses the new Sprinkles of Life stamp set which is a special stamp set created by Stampin Up who will give £2 from the sale of this stamp set to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  This is a great set with so many different combinations of stamps. Plus there is a co-ordinating punch - Tree Builder.  Here is just one making a basic cupcake. I hope to use this stamp more in the near future so will post more designs.  To see more of this stamp set look at the last page of the new 2015-2016 catalogue by clicking on the link my home page.  I also used the Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape on this card and stars puched from the Confetti Stars Border punch in Crushed Curry, Island Indigo and Watermelon Wonder. The cupcake was made using Crushed Curry cardstock and ink with Watermelon Wonder candles and Crumb Cake cardstock and Tip Top Taupe ink base. The background circle is Cucumber Crush.

Just a few Hearts and Butterflies

Well, this is our last class where we will be using the products from the current 2013-2014 Annual Catalogue.  I have been able to have a sneak peak of the new one and it is full of some great stamp sets, new colours, papers, accessories etc so make sure you come along to my July class on Monday 14th to have a look too.

Ok, back to this months class.  We had a couple of suggestions from last months' class on what sort of cards our ladies would like to make.  Our first was a wedding card. This one can also be used for an anniversary or engagement card as well.  The main colours are whipser white, sahara sand and very vanilla with smoky slate ink.  The hearts were stamped in smoky slate ink using the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and cut out using the Hearts a Flutter framelits.  The greeting on this card was taken from Petit Pairs and stamped again using smoky slate onto whisper white card, punched out with the large oval and backed by a piece of sahara sand punched out using the scallop oval punch.  A few basic pearls really give that extra touch to this card.

The second idea was for a 21st female birthday card so the idea I came up with can be used for either a general birthday or a special 'age' one.  The main card stock is very vanilla, then using the Woodgrain stamp stamped using crumb cake ink onto crumb cake cardstock.  The surround that the butterflies are 'perched on' was made using the Window Frames Collection framelits and pear pizzazz cardstock.

The butterflies were made by stamping the smaller butterflies from the Papillon Potpourrir stamp set in Versamark onto wisteria wonder, blushing bride and pool party card stock and then punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  The greeting or number is mounted onto a backing piece of very vanilla cardstock, cut using the 'in-between' size framelit die.  The number was cut out of Silver Glimmer paper using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz die. The greeting was stamped using the Memorable Moments stamp set in Early Espresso ink.  Finally the flowers were punched using scraps of pool party, wisteria wonder and blushing bride using the the Itty Bitty Punch pack with a small basic pearl in the middle.

This months box is a 'pillow box'.  This can be used to contain a scarf, tie, some sweets or any other small gift.  For this design, we drew around a template I had made onto basic black cardstock.  The band is a piece of Modern Medley DSP edged with a strip of real red cardstock cut using the scallop trim border.  The butteflies and border for the greeting were taken from the Creative Elements stamp set.  The butterflies were stamped in real red ink onto very vanilla cardstock and hand cut, the greeting was taken from the Express Yourself hostess stamp set in basic black onto very vanilla cardstock.  Finally the leaves were punched out using the Bird Builder punch in basic black.

October Class - A bit of Autumn and a bit of Christmas

Three Sunflowers

I found this card on the internet and thought it was just perfect for autumn with these 3 delicate sunflowers.  The background colour is Wild Wasabi with Chocolate Chip to give an earthy feel .  We used the Big Shot to create the sunflowers out of Crushed Curry using the Flowers Die, and also the leaves were made by cutting a larger flower from the die out of Wild Wasabi  into 4 pieces.  Again the Big Shot was used with the Polka Dots embossing folder in Whisper White.  The greeting was taken from Petit Pairs and a rhinestone was added to the centre of the sunflowers to give that final touch.

A Countdown to Christmas

How about a bit of Christmas sparkle? This tri-layer card uses a colour that you wouldn’t normally associated with Christmas, Pool Party, and combined with Cherry Cobbler and Silver gives a fresh and bright effect.  This tri-layer effect was created by temporally adhering three layers of Whisper White together and randomly stamping the snowflakes from Snowflake Soiree in Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Versamark and Silver embossing powder over all layers. The layers were then dis-assembled and layers of Pool Party and Silver Glimmer card were added.  The greeting was taken from More Merry Wishes and embossed in silver.  Four  rhinestones were added to add some more sparkle.

Cards from Truly Madly Stampin's First Class

Sorry for the delay in posting these cards from our first card class and apologies that this is not in date order..better late than never!! Happy Easter everyone!

Here is the card we made at our first class using the beautiful butterfly set Papillion Potpourri. This set has a co-ordinating punch, Elegant Butterfly which can be used to punch out the larger butterflies or any DSP to co-ordinate with your design.
The colours were taken from the current In-Colors 2012-2014, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals card stock and Raspberry Ripple ink along with Whisper White card stock and Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon. The 'Happy Birthday' greeting comes from the Perfectly Penned stamp set with is one of my favourites as I like the curve and font because I think it suits all types of cards.  The small butterflies have a small rhinestone attached to add a bit of bling to the ensemble!
Below are a few other cards that I have made using the Papillion Potpourri stamp set to show just how versatile a set this is.

The second card created was to show off the lovely Madison Avenue stamp set that you could get for free during the Sale-a-bration (SAB) promotion. I used the 2011-2013 In Colors - Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party. The Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack was used for the centre of the flowers which were punched out of coordinating card stock. The ladies were introduced to the Stamp-a-ma-jig to enable them to perfectly align the stamped images directly onto the card. The greeting is from the Petite Pairs stamp set, a great set as it encompasses so many different greetings - you will find a sentiment for most occasions. To add the final touches a pearl was added to the centre of each flower and the gorgeous ribbon (again free during SAB) in Pool Party finished the card off beautifully.
