Aprils Card Class - Something for the Boys and the Girls!

Sorry for the delay in posting April class designs, this lovely sunny weather has distracted me!  We were asked to create something suitable for young adults, male and female as this age range can sometimes be tricky to find a suitable card for. For the 'boys' we chose the stamp set 'Need For Speed' which has four vehicles to chose from, a sports car (as shown below), a fighter aircraft, a speed boat and an ATV.  Chocolate Chip card stock was used for the main card with Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy for the rest of the card.  Strips of International Bazaar DSP were used to bring the colours together.  Finally the greeting was taken from 'Up, up and Away' stamp set and punched out using 1", 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches.  Another technique that we introduced at this class was heat embossing. You can't really see this effect in the photograph but the car was stamped first in Versamark then Cherry Cobbler ink then covered with Clear Heat Embossing powder. This was heated using the Heat Embossing Tool. This gives a 'shiny, raised effect'.  To discover how this is done, come along to one of our classes at Rodborough.
Some Denim Jean Ribbon tied across the front of the card gives it the finishing touch.

For our 'girls' card we used the same design as I have previously posted on this blog but changed the colour combination to using Rich Razzleberry, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White. It so cleverly uses the Create a Cupcake stamp set and Cupcake Builder punch by rotating the ‘cake case’ 180 degrees for the main part of the handbags.  The handles are semi-circles made from a ¾” circle and ½” circle punches.  Semi circles are also used to create the ‘flap’ of the handbag.  The greeting also comes from the Create a Cupcake punched out with the modern label punch, backed by a Wisteria Wonder scallop oval and set off with two mini brads. The large sized pearls act as the handbag’s clasp. Another technique was used on this card creation, dry embossing, which is using the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder
A lovely card for anyone with a passion for handbags!

Need for Speed!

Hazel and I have finally been taking lots of photos of our cards to share with you all and give you an idea of the great cards that you can make using Stampin' Up products!

This uses the Need for Speed and Curly Cute stamp sets, Hazel's colour combination is Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue and Island Indigo. The patterned paper is from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack in the Autumn/Winter Catalogue. Finally the tempting turquoise glimmer brad sets the Happy Birthday greeting off a treat! An ideal male greeting card.
